Emergency Response Project in Beledweyne District

In response to the severe drought and flooding affecting the Beledweyne District District (Shiir Kaneeco – Faarah Caafi)
DAWA implemented a targeted emergency response project aimed at providing immediate shelter, water, sanitation, and food assistance to displaced populations. This initiative was crucial in addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable communities and improving their living conditions.

  • Beneficiary Registration: Registered and verified 456 households for essential aid.
  • Shelter Support: Distributed 200 tarpaulins and conducted construction training for 100 households.
  • Water Access: Provided 100 Jerry cans, 100 buckets, and 1,000 Aqua tabs for safe water.
  • Health Promotion: Recruited staff, distributed 800 soaps, and conducted health education sessions.
  • Food Assistance: Supplied basic food items to 256 vulnerable families.
  • Total Individuals: 1,536 (FSL), 600 (WASH), 600 (Shelter/NFI)
  • Demographics: Included significant numbers of women, children, and individuals with disabilities.
